This scene was what was missing from the remake. Blomkvist’s fucking attitude of, let’s sympathize with our rapists and murderers seems a very typical male PoV.

I cannot stand when people are like “oh let’s forgive them for all the terrible shit they’ve done, cause look what they had to go through!”. Fuck that so much.

If you’ve had terrible life experiences, that is horrible, but that does not give you the right to be a terrible person.

TW: Child abuse, rape

I’m just recalling a time where I was sitting with a group of people and someone brought up a mutual person we know who tends to get very violent when drunk.

In bringing him up, he decided that it was fucking okay to say “oh he was abused/raped as a child which is why he’s violent now, anyone would be like that”.

And one. Oh my fucking god you do not ever have the right to bring that up. You can’t just talk about someones fucking rape experience while dropping their name. I fucking hope I don’t need to get into how fucking terrible that is.

Secondly. No. Fuck no. Do not ever equate child abuse and rape with turning out to be a violent person. Do not ever ever have this conversation. Cause you know, I’m sitting right here. I’m not a violent person. I actively try to be a good person. I know I may mess up at times but I’ve never been violent.

And the worst thing is. I just sat there. I didn’t say anything, and I pretended like nothing happened. I just can’t deal with stuff like this. This convo also happened like a year ago, sooooooo not even sure why I’m bringing it up now..
